The Vessigaud family vineyard was founded in 1839 and is located in the hamlet of Pouilly in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. A total of 10 ha of Chardonnay (Macon and Pouilly Fuisssé) and 1 ha of Gamay (Saint Amour) are in production. The high planting density (8500ha) requires a lot of work for Pierre and his wife Françoise, but they are convinced: No great wine without great terroir and perfectly healthy grapes. For them, this can only be achieved by cultivating the vineyards as naturally as possible. The grapes are pressed slowly and gently; their juice ferments spontaneously in used barrels and also matures here on the fine lees for up to 18 months. The style of the Domaine is delicate, precise wines - carried by freshness and minerality, with rich aromas, balanced and drinkable. They are open and already taste young, but patience pays off, because they mature phenomenally.
